Character Badges

These are three character badges I created in Illustrator based on three of my favorite animated characters: Amon from The Legend of Korra, Wario from the Super Mario Bros. series, and Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia. My main focus with this was to try creating characters in Illustrator who’s designs were from different mediums. To achieve this, I selected one cartoon character, one anime character, and one video game character. Next was designing a clean badge in the style of something you would see on a patch and adding something unique to each design yet having a cohesive through-line which connects them all into a single set. I used the circular design and the font to keep the badges alike, but changed each character’s background and added different side emblems to make sure they each stood out. In the end, my goal was to make every single color and shape of each design pertinent to the background of who each character is, and re-create each of their designs in a way that they are still instantly recognizable.
