About Me

My name is Marcus Millán. I was born and raised in Queens, New York, and I have a Master’s degree in Interactive Media and my Bachelor’s of Arts degree at Quinnipiac University. Graphic design and film, more specifically post production, are the fields that I truly want to make my mark in. When I am not working, I can frequently be found watching movies, new and old, or talking with my close friends to see what we want to make next. Staying creative is a necessity in my life which I usually satisfy by either watching films, listening to all sorts of music, or trying out new things in graphic design.

My position of choice in film is post production. The aspect I love most about it is the sense of progress and accomplishment I feel throughout the process. Just like in graphic design, I always start editing with a certain idea in mind, whether it’s a song I want to use or a color scheme. In the beginning of my college career, I remember experiencing these kinds of preliminary thoughts on my feature piece about Amit Persaud. This was the first bigger, story-driven project I was going to take on alone, so of course I was nervous the whole way through. After having rented whatever equipment I needed from my school, I lugged it all home, scheduled all my interviews and took a whole day to get all my footage recorded. That same night, I sat in my attic with a microphone, watching over all the footage, writing and recording the narration. When I had finally finished all the production, I felt great, but it wasn’t until I sat down with all the clips and put it all together that I learned exactly what I felt my calling was.

I was entranced. Cutting everything together exactly how I had pictured it, adjusting every little thing as much as I could at that time. I will never forget finishing the full edit, putting in that music at the very end of the video and just being blown away that I could create something like that at all. That was the ultimate satisfaction, and even though I look back at the video now with my larger skillset and nitpick different things I could have done differently, that video changed how I perceive myself and what I want to do with my life. Now I wake up every day chasing those feelings, trying my best to enhance what I can do so I can create bigger and better things that bring me that level of love again.
